Please wait to be contacted. The NHS will let you know when it's your turn to have the vaccine. It's important not to contact the NHS for a vaccination before then. The vaccine will be delivered from a PCN hub (NHS England have said there can only be 1 vaccination site per PCN) . PCN'S (Primary Care Networks) cover a group of practices, there are 5 practices in our PCN. The vaccine will be delivered from the PCN hub, (the closest location for our PCN is Debenham Community Centre) and will not be delivered from individual practice sites.  The first patients to be contacted (starting from the 18th January) will be those in the highest priority groups starting with those patients aged over 80 (please see below). This contact will not come from the practice but will be from a central hub and any queries you have following being contacted should be directed back to the central hub. You may receive a text, letter or phone call, please be patient you will get an invite. You may also receive multiple contacts, for example you may receive contact from our PCN hub (you may be offered additional sites to Debenham), the Government mass vaccination site (the Norwich mass vaccination site opens on the 18th January & Gainsborough Leisure Centre in Ipswich at the end of January).  The Government invite may offer you a variety of locations we have had reports of them offering venues as far as field as London, please don't worry you do not need to take up the offer of the government invites you can wait for the PCN invitation if you would prefer to attend the Debenham venue.  click here for the latest Government information for the Covid Vaccine. The vaccine will be given to patients in order of their priority as deemed by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation. ** FLU CLINICS 2020 *** We have now written to all patients that are eligible for the flu vaccination (those patients aged over 65 as at the 31/3/2021 and all those patients under 65 who have a medical condition who puts them at greater risk. If you are over 65 or under 65 in an at risk category or are a family member of  those patients asked to shield and would like to book a flu jab please contact us urgently. We have also contacted parents/guardians of children that are eligible.

Summary Care Record

During March 2014 every patient aged over 15 years & 9 months was sent a letter regarding the Summary Care Record.  If you have any questions about the Summary Care Record and the information that you require was not in the letter, on our website or in the patient information leaflet which can be downloaded from this page, then you can phone PALS on 0800 389 6819 who will be able to help you with any questions that you have. 

Patients would have received a leaflet during January 2014 concerning 'care data', this is different to the Summary Care Record and opting out of care data would not opt you out of the Summary Care Record and vice versa.

THE SUMMARY CARE RECORD

summary care recordThere is a new Central NHS Computer System called the Summary Care Record (SCR). The Summary Care Record is meant to help emergency doctors and nurses help you when you contact them when the surgery is closed. Initially, it will contain just your medications and allergies.

Later on as the central NHS computer system develops, (known as the ‘Summary Care Record’ – SCR), other staff who work in the NHS will be able to access it along with information from hospitals, out of hours services, and specialists letters that may be added as well.

Your information will be extracted from practices such as ours and held on central NHS databases.   

As with all new systems there are pros and cons to think about. When you speak to an emergency doctor you might overlook something that is important and if they have access to your medical record it might avoid mistakes or problems, although even then, you should be asked to give your consent each time a member of NHS Staff wishes to access your record, unless you are medically unable to do so.

On the other hand, you may have strong views about sharing your personal information and wish to keep your information at the level of this practice. Connecting for Health (CfH), the government agency responsible for the Summary Care Record have agreed with doctors’ leaders that new patients registering with this practice should be able to decide whether or not their information is uploaded to the Central NHS Computer System.

For existing patients it is different in that it is assumed that you want your record uploaded to the Central NHS Computer System unless you actively opt out.
